By Golly I think I Finally Cracked the Code!!!! My Final Project

Here is how it has all gone down over this past 13 weeks. I’ll let you all be the judge:

Samara Wong a member of Apocalyptic Airwave was starting to gather lots of  evidence when all of a sudden her and her group were notified that they had won some kind of “Digital Project Contest”.

Did they win this contest that no one had really even heard about or signed up for or were they just being played…….

The individuals from Apocalyptic Airwave must have known too much, Reclaim Hosting tried to reach out to this group with a so-called incentive package.  Reclaim Hosting also tried to have the group of Apocalyptic Airwave fill out government forms, “form W-9 and Vendor Registration”.  These forms were not as they seemed.  At first glance they look like forms that are used to claim monetary prizes but in actuality they were used by Reclaim Hosting to find out key information from the members of Apocalyptic Airwave.  These forms asked way to much personal information such as Social Security, full name, full address all for what, to claim $30.00.  The group spoke to each other instantly as something seemed eerily fishy.   Reclaim Hosting was trying to pin point every small detail about this group one because they knew to much and two they were trying to wipe them out one by one.

After seeing the video the other day of Nessie walking through the hall of the HCC building and her somehow pulling some Houdini shit and poof Martha Burtis then appears………

………It got me thinking has Martha been Nessie the whole time and was she playing us and misleading us by using sleight of hand.  Sleight of hand being that she somehow quote on quote “lost” her hat.

So I did some digging to get to the bottom of this.  I ran a facial recognition of Martha’s face against Nessie’s face. But, yet the dots literally weren’t connecting.

So I tried to remember where I had seen this face before, and it dawned on me that I had seen it on a tweet just recently.  It actually was one of the culprits stating the winners of the “Digital Project Contest”.

Jess Reingold is Nessie and this is why.  With 75.4% match through the facial recognition program it’s not the most concise match but clear-cut enough for me.

Jess Reingold a.k.a Nessie has been trying to lure The End 106 class out one by one.  First by asking the supposed 10 apocalyptic questions.  And then sending out notifications to students letting them know they supposedly won something.  Like I said she did this because Samara Wong and her gang Apocalyptic Airwave knew too much.  She did the questions to test the waters seeing what we as a class knew about the inner workings of the so-called apocalypse and tried to wrangle Samara’s group in, so she could report back to the crazed Millard Rausch a.k.a Jim Groom.   Like I said in my evidence post last week, that after exploring Jim Groom’s Social Media account Twitter.  It looks to be that Jim Groom had escaped a mental asylum and is now using Reclaim Hosting as a front to infect those who do not heed his directions.  I know I had stated this before but in all makes sense now.  The explosions that were heard in the Apocalyptic Airwave radio show were actual explosions of   Millard Rausch a.k.a Jim Groom breaking out of the mental asylum.  When he escaped all hell broke loose.  He knew that DS 106 was slowly closing in with our information gathering and that’s why he infected Martha.  She must have stood up to him to protect us.  This is why she has been sick so long, and on top of it all they have been holding her hat ransom to force her into doing as they say.  The only reason she switched spots with Nessie in her beloved HCC 408 green room is because Jess Reingold and Jim Groom wanted us to think Martha was a part of this whole thing.  But instead she has been a pawn to try to throw us off their scent this whole time.

Folk this is my thoughts on this whole “Apocalypse”  I sure I hope I am right for Martha’s sake.

One Step Closer to Solving the Evidence Crisis

I wanted to build off the evidence that cypherpunk106 and katie temple had found about Millard Rausch a.k.a Jim Groom.  After exploring Jim Groom’s Social Media account Twitter.  It looks to be that Jim Groom has escaped a mental asylum and is now using Reclaim Hosting as a front to infect those who do not heed his directions.

I find it ironic that a day or two after his meeting with our beloved Martha Burtis, her hat comes up missing and she miraculously becomes sick.  With today’s modern medicine and healthcare how does one stay sick going on roughly 6 weeks now, unless their DNA is being manipulated by an individual such as Millard Rausch a.k.a Jim Groom.  I feel that Martha Burtis’s hat is being held by Jim Groom until we as a group cease and desist our class functions.  After re-reading the CDE memo I feel that Martha is infected with this virus.

I feel that Martha has exhibit 4 out of these 5 symptoms.  Symptom #1 she is becoming more and more transparent. Symptom #2 she states she sees things in the room with her during her videos I think these are observances only visible to her. Symptom #3  Cravings for non-nutritional comestibles such as the liquid beverage when she was in secret bunker #2.  Symptom #5 activation of previously undetected AI, her voice changes on a whim at times I think this is part of the infection taking over her body.

Symptom #1 Sudden Onset of anatomical anomalies

Symptom # 3 Cravings for non-nutritional comestibles

Symptom #5 Neural Transformations

Is it a coincidence that Martha’s hat is missing or that she has been sick for so long, I think not. Now that we have uncovered Millard Rausch’s true Identity I hope that we as a group, can combine our evidence to get to the bottom of this mystery and return the hat to it’s rightful owner Martha.

Let Me Tell You About my Apocalyptic Airwave Friends!!

I did the 4 star assignment This is My Story.  I decided to tell my story using notecards.   I told the story of what Mufasa and I are doing these days, and that we sorely miss or friends from the Barn.  It has been two weeks since we presented our story Apocalyptic Airwave a story of survival to others.  After we told our story Mufasa and I moved on from the barn trying to find other survivors.  I made this video to let my friends from the barn know that they are dearly missed.  Here is my video below:

I Would Walk 500 Miles!!!

I did the 3 star assignment Where do your shoes take you in a day?  In this assignment you had to tell a story using a video of only your shoes!  Well I guess i misread the instructions because I definitely didn’y have socks on for part of the video, other parts of the clip I was wearing my socks.  But regardless I showed a video of where my feet took me that day.  Initially I was at home home here in Fredericksburg.  I then traveled to Fort Lee hence the video of my feet driving.  I then arrived at a baby shower hence me actually wearing dressy clothes.  Lastly after a long day which felt like 500 miles of walking I relaxed at my sisters at Fort Lee.  Here is my video below:

A crazy Radio night, Girls Guide and The Eagle Report aka (Joey Buckets)!!!!

So I decided to be wild tonight and I stayed up for not just one, but two radio broadcasts on ds106Radio, look at me go!!!! Here are my reflections for “Girls Guide to/for/through the Apocalypse” and “The Eagle Report” stated below:

“Girl’s Guide to/for/through the Apocalypse”

I really enjoyed the format of the whole show.  I like how they broke down places to eat, since Mickey D’s and Chick Fil A won’t be open.  The way they did a question and answer segment on Midwives Advice with their listeners was really creative.  When doing the radio show I wouldn’t of thought to do something like this I felt that they knocked this out of the park.  I missed about 5-10 minutes of the radio show due to putting my kids to sleep.  What I did hear was very upbeat and a good show all around.  The editing of background sounds, transitions and music choice made this show well worth the listen.

The Eagle Report

I liked their reporting style, and how they transitioned to different reporters throughout the radio show.  I feel that there was a strong undertone for chicken references such as Joey Buckets, and Young Gravy the show was good about informing me about %@#@!nucleitide how ever you spell it, but more than anything it made me hungry with all their KFC names for their characters.  Note to self eat before listening to radio broadcasts.  I like how they used actual commercials we hear from day to day on their radio show.  Even though the apocalypse is happening, this doesn’t mean you are allowed to have dandriff in your hair, get yourself some Head and Shoulders.  Overall I feel this group did a good job with their editing and transitioning from one reporter to the next.

The countdown begins to the Airing of APOCALYPTIC AIRWAVE !!!!!

So the past week was a week of relaxation for me from the hustle and bustle of classes everyday of the week.  Over the past few weeks I have made numerous Daily Creates, a poster for our Radio show, and collaborated with my group Apocalyptic Airwave on our radio show.  So over Spring break my family and I stayed local and that was probably a good thing as it gave my group and I time to formulate our radio show.  I first started off talking to Samara Wong a member of our group bouncing ideas off of her for our Radio Show, as she stayed local as well.  After bouncing ideas off of her, she hit the ground running with the script for our radio show.  After having a majority of it written we ended up meeting during spring break at Hyperion Coffee shop, which if you haven’t been there, their coffee is actually pretty good.  All three of us met up utilized Hyperions free internet and through our google doc Samara created we were all able to collaborate at the same time seeing what each other was writing and building off that.   Meeting up initially with our group even for that one day I thought was pretty productive and only projected us forward in the process of building our radio show.

My daily Create from Tuesday 2/27/2018  I ended up posting both these pictures as you could not see the character or what I was afraid of becoming during the apocalypse in the first tweet.  My character Carson Gordon was afraid of becoming the thing he hated the most a zombie.  He keeps having bad dreams where he has become a zombie, but luckily it was only a bad dream.

My daily create for Wednesday 2/28/2018 I created this picture using the Pictionary word generator.  My two words I got were “rocket” and “arm”.  My drawing isn’t the greatest, but I hope people were able to get the jist of what I was trying to portray here.   https://twitter.com/jetjenk43/status/968963959201107968

My daily create March 3, 2018 4th Rule of Robotics All I know after reading the first 3 Rules of Robotics is that Robots are tired of listening to humans and have decided to do their own thing. Thanks to canva I was able to mark out the other 3 rules and implement a 4th law.

Daily create from March 4, 2018  So I did the Wheel of Fortune Daily create and I was hoping to get some responses or guesses on what people guessed to try and solve the puzzle.  I figured most people would guess wrong, and I wanted to see what they actually thought puzzle was.  The answer to the puzzle is “EAT SHOT AND DIE”, My character Carson would pump a zombie full of BuckSHOT, if they got near.

OUR RADIO SHOW Apocalyptic Airwave

So above is my radio show poster I made for the Apocalyptic Airwave.  The barn will make more sense of why it is in the background once we get to play our radio show.  So getting together with a group of strangers to make a radio show was kind of challeging at times.  These people are people you have only met through slack and not in person, well not until we met for our callaboration.  What made this project the most challaging is that it took place during spring break.  Now you might think this is the best time to get together for a group project, but actually it wasn’t the best time due to many of the other members being away for spring break.  Everyone has busy schedules which also makes it hard to get together at specific times.  Luckily for my group we were able to meet face to face 3 times.  Each one of these meetings/ collaborations were very productive and not much messing around took place.  I think the work ethic of my group was quite supurb as we were not very far in our radio show progress during spring break except for the portion Samara Wong did, but the 3 days we met we knocked out everything we needed to do.  We thought we were behind every other radio show group, after seeing their blog posts of where they were compared to where we were at.  But after seeing their posts this week it seems that we are actually ahead of the other groups as we were able to turn in our finished copy of our radio show a couple of days ago.  Like I stated Samara did a brunt of the writing, and Taylor Ostrom did a fantastic job with the voice overs, that brought our story full circle.  Rachel Harris and Caroline Rose Callahan were big helps in getting the show put together piece by piece through Audacity.  We all didn’t know much about how Audacity worked prior to this project, but I feel that we are Subject Matter Experts at this point, atleast we tell ourselves that.   Caroline Rose Callahan did an amazing job at playing two parts in our story without her being flexible in playing two parts I feel we wouldn’t of got our program together in such a quick manner.  Overall I am proud of my group, and happy with the amount of work each individual contributed to the success of Apocalyptic Airwave.  Hands Down I feel I had the best group of them all.

Question of the Week.

If the apocalypse were to happen, and you had to become something. . .else. Which kind of something would you want to be and why?

A time-traveler with the ability to potentially travel back and forth in time to change the outcome of the apocalypse?

I would chose to be a time traveler because I would be able to bounce back and forth between times to of course try and fix or stop the apocalypse from happening.  I would also use this ability to help myself out.  Like learn from all the mistakes I made throughout life and go back in time and fix them to help my situation or my families situation.  Whats the saying if I only knew then what I know now, something like that.  I would go back in time and invest into apple stocks, or take life lessons I have learned now and incorporate them into my past decisions.  I just think it would be cool to bounce around in general see different eras I’ve never lived in.

Week 5 I’m Still Alive!!!

Week Five Summary.

This week we used sound in our assignments, I had fun with this weeks assignments due to all the things you can do to manipulate sounds.  I got a late jump this week in my works due to having to learn some of the techniques needed to be successful in the things I produced.  I found the resource page to be pretty useful and I loved all the options we had to use free open source sounds.  The application I have gravitated to so far has been audacity, after I few hours and a couple clips later I feel I have a slight grasp of how to use it.  The website I enjoyed using as well was Freesound as it seemed to have every sound I wanted for my products.  This week was fun because it was something new that I hadn’t messed with before, with exception of cassette tapes and my old stereo system and recording live radio segments.

Assignment: Frequency 2156

So when I did my contribution to the Frequency 2156 site, I had to record my clip multiple times, on Audacity until I could finally get a clip I was happy with.  I then downloaded a couple of background noise clips fo blend in with my audio file.  I used the website Freesound to get all of my background sounds I felt like they had a good selection to choose from.  Overall I enjoyed being creative with my audio file being able to contribute to the overall story being told.  The sound clip I create is located below.

Assignment: Choose Your Own Audio

So this week I dove in on the audio assignment bank.  I decided to do two assignments to make up my five stars needed for the assignment portions.  I ended up with 7 stars instead.  I used the programs and some of the websites that were given to us in this weeks resources to come up with the audio files that I ended up using.  As this is the first time really dealing with these types of files I was behind the power curve a bit.  But after a few tutorials and a couple Youtube videos I was able to complete the assignment Auditory Hell (2 stars)

and Humming Away   (5 stars).  I played around with the Audacity app to make these files and then I uploaded them into Soundcloud.  It took awhile but here is what I created below.

Assignment: Character Choice and Introduction

So I chose a hard ass for my archetype character.  He is a prior veteran with a score to settle with the zombies.  He has many skills that hopefully will come in handy within the survival group.  I used the website Canva  to create my character Carson Gordon’s Resume.

After reading  Elaina’s  blog  I laughed pretty hard.  She states that her character is considered to be the Ron Weasley of the group.  The person who brings jokes and releases tension when shit is going down, but overall is just a sidekick. She also stated that her character she decided to create Winston Henerly is an aspiring actress from NYC who is living in L.A. I love how she painted the picture of her being an Emma Stone wannabe.

I really liked the character Alex Whitmore by Taylor Ostrom her character,  is one that would be a natural leader that we will need in order to survive. The survivors will definitely need a plan to survive long-term and it seems like Alex is up for it with her Badass ways.  With characters like Alex we shouldn’t have an issue with survival.

                                DS 106 Radio

I listened to two ds106Radio segments War of the Worlds and The Peoria Plague at  ds106radio.  The War of the Worlds kept my attention the whole time and I loved how they switched to different people/segments throughout the broadcast, their use of sounds and voices painted a picture I couldn’t actually see but I felt like I was right there.  The Peoria Plague for me was a little bit harder for me to follow possibly due to my internet going in and out or that the copy as Professor Burtis stated wasn’t as good of quality as the War of the Worlds.  The main thing I learned from The Peoria Plague is do not, I mean do not drink the “CAT WATER”.

Question of the week

How are you feeling? Be specific.

How am I feeling mhmmm. About the class or in general.  Well if we are talking about how I feel about the class I am enjoying it so far.  We have had a different genre each week, making us expand our horizons on what we are able to do.  Even though some things are easier than others, this class is giving me more tools to put into my toolbox.  If we are talking about in general.  I think I am starting to get the crud I feel that Professor Burtis passed it to me through my computer.  So specifics, I feel the mucous building up in my nose and slowly dripping down to my throat, I feel it building up in my throat needing to be released by a good cough or by spitting out a  loogie.  My eyes and throat are starting to get irritated and I’m feeling a tad bit warmer than usual, so once again I think it was transmitted through my computer.  Other than that I feel just peachie, not trying to let the crud get me down so that way I can fight these zombies head on.

My Radio Transmission From Cape Town, Africa!!!! Frequency 2156

As a digital story I feel this website Frequency 2156  nailed the digital story aspect.  The multiple different audio files from numerous amounts of individuals help to paint a picture of what is going on within the individuals and what is going on around them.  Each audio file from different parts of the world show a different story going on, each file is not the same and I think this is what makes this type of storytelling different than others I have listened to or seen before.  I feel the crowd sourcing audio helps bring a different aspect to this genre.  People are able to be creative and have fun with this, because they are not following any structure in their audio works.  The only thing I would do different with this story is to make the uploads of audio not take so long, other than that I wouldn’t change a thing.  The visuals are amazing, the multi layers of the website keep the viewer’s attention, and the aspect of crowd-sourcing for the audio is an awesome idea to make it more realistic.

I tried to upload my voice recording to the Frequency 2156 website but was unsuccessful in doing so.  After bring it to Professor Burtis attention she stated to go ahead and record a voice transmission.  So I used audacity to merge my sounds together that I had gotten from the Free Sound Website .  I used two different sounds in the making of my clip, bunker sounds with a constant drip in the background and bombs hitting the bunker in the distance.  I think I am somewhat getting the hang of audacity and I quite enjoyed making my transmission from Cape Town Africa, in which my transmission was meant to reach others who were survivors like me.  As you can tell from my transmission my survival may depend on if I can find other survivors or not.

Taking forever to load!!!!

So when I did my contribution to the Frequency 2156 site, I had to record my clip multiple times.  The first few times I didn’t like the way I came across, but once I got my clip where I wanted it I played around with the settings to give it the apocalyptic feel.  Out of all things to use to record my voice for the clip, I ended up using my XBOX headphones to give my voice a little bit better quality of audio.  I did use a script of sorts that I created in Microsoft Word so that way I knew what I was going to say, so I didn’t fumble and bumble my audio clip.  Overall I enjoyed being creative with my audio file being able to contribute to the overall story being told.

My Xbox Headset worked wonders!!!!

All the Noises I deem Unnecessary!!!!

Auditory Hell

I chose this two star assignment from the audio assignment bank.  I instantly chose this assignment because off the top of my head I could think of a few really annoying sounds.

I first went https://freesound.org/ and searched for the most annoying sounds

1.  I could find the first sound I found was a woman yelling really loud, no one likes to hear yelling and I thought it would get the annoying point across.

  1. The second sound I used was nails on a chalk board, every time I listen to it, it makes the hairs on my neck raise.

  2. My grandparents had an old grandfather clock, that had a bird chirp at the top of every hour.  This is quite annoying if you are trying to take a nap or are trying to sleep through the night so I used the alarm clock bird chirping sound.

  3. Guess what the fourth sound is, a baby because the damn grandfather clock woke the baby up.

5.  I used a sound from an old computer game,  I feel like it is the sound that is made when you keep on losing your life, like you fell off the cliff because the cliff pixels were so crappy and you fell.  And now the computer game is making fun of you.

6.  Is another annoying computer background sound I figured tied in well with the others.

After finding all sounds I wanted to use I then went to Audacity Tutorials and used this to help me figure my way through the Audacity App.  Once I had all 6 sounds downloaded I was able to drag and drop the files into the App and was able to manipulate these files to intertwine with each other to make the product I have posted above.  I then uploaded the file into soundcloud and was able to take the file url and post it into my blog.
